In the field of Parks and Recreation, I think you have to have a passion for people and a willingness to help them. This field can make such positive changes within a community given the right resources and support. It addresses so many social needs within a community – health and wellness, economic impact, social connectivity, conservation and the overall beauty of an area. The professionals that choose this field have great passion for it and enjoy the ability to help people feel better and experience activities that build skill, teamwork, character, awareness, as well as develop lasting friendships through common experiences.
Interesting enough, the last couple of years I have transitioned into a different profession and am now working in the Training and Development field connecting managers and leaders to their teams and individual personalities through improved communication, common goal acquisition and an appreciation for differences as strengths. This profession continues to fuel my passion for working with people and helping them to realize their goals.
